STEP 3 : SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION & INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

IDEA OF SOLUTIONS

A few solutions should take into consideration in order to cultivate patriotism spirit among the citizens of various races in our country.

First of all, education plays a significant role in this case. The education system could help in educating youngsters the knowledge on history, religion, morals or civic-minded unity early in the school where efforts can be made to inculcate youngsters the values of interracial harmony, peace, and unity which leading to them grow up to become responsible Malaysian youth. Indirectly, it helps to prevent them from becoming rebellious or racist. The subject of history should be made compulsory for every student to take it. During the classes of history, educators can use some creativity skills approaches to attract their interest in the subject. They should be exposed more about the country’s history for instance getting to know the entire storyline and the national fighters who sacrificed themselves in the process of fighting for independence back in the past. Consequently, youngsters will feel grateful for it and have devotion to the country.

Other than that, youngsters should stop focusing on the country’s deficiency and those our country can't offer us. Instead, they should realize and look up to those good ones. Let’s say like the unique cultures we have resulting from the combination of a wide range of races, religions or cultures which are the amazing aspects owned by our country. They should learn to appreciate and hence feel proud of it. Besides, youngsters should start thinking and doing things that would make them proud of their own country. An effort they could contribute is for instance giving suggestions to their parents to travel in the country than travel abroad during the meet-up on the discussion of a trip or vacation destination. Having the mindset that by traveling in the country, they can discover their native land, explore the beauty and get to know deeply about the country’s history, heritage and background through visits to cultural centers and historical landmarks. Absolutely that they would be surprised at how interesting it is! Expenses spend traveling could act as an action of supporting domestic tourism which indirectly boosts the local economy.

Next, parents' roles in cultivating youngsters’ patriotism is totally undeniable. They should be nurtured starting childhood years due to the reason if children love their home country, they would grow up appreciating their culture, inheritance, social values, history, diversity and strive to improve the country in any aspect of their lives either intellectually, socially or economically. Thus, parents should speak highly about the country in front of them. Teach them to respect the country and also the national symbols such as National Anthem and National Flag. They must be taught decorum like standing straightly whenever the national anthem is played. Furthermore, parents can make the National Day and Malaysia Day as an opportunity to tell youngsters about the awesome leaders fighting for independence which is different from much of the independence of other countries. Why said so? It is peaceful independence achieved by holding talks with the British. No other country has ever done that before Malaysia. Additionally, it was led by three people from different cultures and religions. It would definitely instill their love and respect for those leaders as well as the country.

In a nutshell, apparently that we all shall realize and aware of how important it is to inculcate patriotism spirit and devotion in youngsters. They should be proud of the country's strength and effort, be proud of who they are and be proud that their country has played a part in them being the great person they have turned out to be. Youngsters are the prime movers of the country transformation, they must have a sense of pride and belong to the country that needs to be nurtured and preserved among them. Only then youngsters could be molded into responsible citizens and also future leaders of the country who do not look at things through race-colored lenses. Instead, they are able to get to know, understand and appreciate the concept of unity under 1 Malaysia that accepts the skin color or religious background uniqueness of each other. Hence, this will enhance racial integration and unite them of different races with the aspiration of a united Malaysia.
